Gooding & Company, the official auction house for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, is thrilled to announce the auction of an important piece of Bugatti history - Ettore Bugatti’s personal 1936 Type 57C Coupe. The annual Pebble Beach auctions will be held on August 15 – 16, 2009.
The Ettore Bugatti’s personal 1936 Type 57C Coupe is the quintessential Bugatti road car and this specific car is considered to be one of the most historically significant examples of its kind. According to David Gooding from Gooding & Company it is one of the most spectacular Bugattis ever built.
Bugatti Type 57C was built between 1943 and 1940. Total of 710 units were built. Under the hood is a 3.2-liter straight-eight. They are all very rare, but this is more special as it was driven by Ettore Bugatti himself. In addition it was painted in two-tone bright green and black, which was unusual for a Bugatti.
Gooding & Company auction officials expects that the final bid for this 1936 Bugatti Type 57C will reach more than $12.1 million.
