BVLGARI Celebrates 125 Years of Italian Jewelry

BVLGARI Jewelry
Italian luxury goods retailer, BVLGARI exhibits at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in celebration of its 125 years of Italian jewelry.

The theme entitled "BETWEEN ETERNITY AND HISTORY" dedicated to Bvlgari during the 125 years since the first store in Rome (1884). This qualifies as an event very significant to the decorative arts in Italy and in particular the history of the gem as it allows to trace the evolution of this art in Europe through the production of one of the largest jewelers in the world.

The path starts from handmade silver made by the founder of the house, Sotiria Bulgari, a Greek who settled in Rome in 1881.

The exhibition pays particular attention to certain themes characteristic of the style as Bulgari coins mounted as stone, the snake motif, the so-called Tubogas Bvlgari and logo used as a decorative element.

And for first time, visitors can admire the fabulous jewelry worn by the biggest movie star, like Ingrid Bergman, Gina Lollobrigida, Sophia Loren, Anna Magnani, and
Elizabeth Taylor. An entire room is reserved for the extraordinary collection by Elizabeth Taylor: emeralds and sapphires large, magnificently framed by diamonds, characterize the famous jewels of love story with Richard Burton.

Approximately two hundred and fifty of the pieces on display belong to the Bulgari Vintage Collection and jewelry from private collections which are being exhibited at
Palazzo delle Esposizioni for the first time.

The "Between Eternity and History" exhibition which opens in late spring will end on 13 of September 2009.
